The Purpose

  Our church in Santiago Chile did 40 Days of Purpose  for lent. The weekly memory verses set to music helped our congregation comprehend their import more fully and remember them through the week. The song for each week's is varied in style and was easily grasped by the congregation. They are constructed to give insight into the text and involve people. Several of them carry out the idea of each person's importance in the greater whole of the body of Christ. We used them in Sunday worship and small groups. They are short enough to be taught to the congregation in 5 minutes

The Songs

Week 1. Romans 12:5 - A three voice canon for congregation

Week 2. We Are God’s Workmanship - A unison song based on Ephesians 2:10

Week 3. Love the Lord - Original two part Hebrew-style song based on the Shema Israel (Mark 12:30). Add a tamborine and this one will dance its way into your memory.

Week 4. Teacher of Wisdom - Solo voice & guitar with congregational response “Our attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus”. Your College & High School aged congregants will love this one.

Week 5. First Peter 4:10 - A four part canon accompanied by harp & handbells.

Week 6. Make the Most - Playful music & joyous theology. Break out the “everyday percussion”  by having children play bottles, blocks, tin cans and make a joyful noise!     Colossians 4:3-6
