This congregational hymn written by John Ridgway Walker is based on Deuteronomy 30:20, Lamentations 3:22-24, and Psalm 119:1-7.
We will seek you with a whole heart; we will open wide the doors for God's Spirit to flow through the whole house. Gentle winds for our renewal, mighty winds for mighty change; each one measured as God ordains.
Holy Spirit, move among us! Touch each heart in this hall with the wonder flowing from your living presence, blowing through the gathering throng, breathing new life to right each wrong.
As we ponder what you teach us and we learn to walk your ways, you add joy to our living and strength to our days. May we ever be steadfast; may we learn to bear our part. Let our praise rise from an upright heart.
Holy spirit, move within us! Make us new. Make us whole. Make us holy. For it's not by our own doing, but the fire you light within that strangely warms usand atones our sin.
For the Lord will be our portion; we will hope in him always; for the love of the Lord never ceases. God is faithful to his people even to the End of Days. Consecrated is the bond God makes.
Hear the promise that redeems us: "I have taken your hand and will keep you." For God's covenant calling calls us each and calls us all; calling surely whate'er befalls.
Lift your voices with a whole heart. sing out loud. Sing out strong! Let the Song of the Ages flow through us. May the voices of the scriptures, of the prophets, hymns and songs, words of wisdom ever ring out long.
Lift your voices with a whole heart. Let the broad halls of heaven be ringing with the voices of all history, mighty throng or quiet few bearing witness to the heart made new!
